Ambulance Driver To Sue Papoose

The head of a Brooklyn volunteer ambulance service is steaming mad at rapper Papoose for duping him into using his wagon for a violent rap video and plans to sue.

Rocky Robinson, co-founder of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Corps, said associates for the gangsta rapper, a Bed-Stuy native also known as Shamele Mackie, approached him last year and "said they wanted to do a video shoot about what we do in the community."

But the footage was later used in Papoose's video "Ambulance," about his beef with another rapper.

"I would never knowingly let someone use this ambulance corps as a stage to peddle his words about murdering somebody," said Robinson, 67, an ex-EMS captain.

Representatives for Papoose, who is engaged to incarcerated rapper Remy Ma, did not return calls for comment

Judge sentences Snipes to 3 years for tax convictions

OCALA, Fla. - Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison on tax charges Thursday, a victory for prosecutors who sought to make an example of the action star by aggressively pursuing the maximum penalty.

Snipes' lawyers had spent much of the day in court offering dozens of letters from family members, friends — even fellow actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington — attesting to the good character of the "Blade" star and asking for leniency. They argued he should get only probation because his three convictions were all misdemeanors and the actor had no previous criminal record.

But U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges said Snipes exhibited a "history of contempt over a period of time" for U.S. tax laws, and granted prosecutors the three year sentence they requested — one year for each of Snipes' convictions of willfully failing to file a tax return.

"In my mind these are serious crimes, albeit misdemeanors," Hodges said.

Snipes apologized while reading from a written statement for his "costly mistakes," but never mentioned the word taxes.

"I am an idealistic, naive, passionate, truth-seeking, spiritually motivated artist, unschooled in the science of law and finance," Snipes said.

Snipes said his wealth and celebrity attracted "wolves and jackals like flies are attracted to meat." He called himself "well-intentioned, but miseducated."

Snipes was the highest-profile criminal tax target in years, and prosecutors called for a heavy sentence to deter others from trying to obstruct the IRS. The government alleged Snipes made at least $13.8 million for the years in question and owed $2.7 million in back taxes.

Snipes was acquitted in February of five additional charges, including felony tax fraud and conspiracy. Snipes' co-defendants, Douglas P. Rosile and Eddie Ray Kahn, were convicted on both those counts. Kahn, who refused to defend himself in court, was sentenced to 10 years, while Rosile received 54 months. Both will serve three years of supervised release. Snipes will serve one year of supervised release.

Snipes and Rosile remain free and will be notified when they are to surrender to authorities.

Kahn was the founder of American Rights Litigators, and a successor group, Guiding Light of God Ministries, that purported to help members legally avoid paying taxes. Rosile, a former accountant who lost his licenses in Ohio and Florida, prepared Snipes' paperwork.

Snipes maintained in a years-long battle with the IRS he did not have to pay taxes, using fringe arguments common to "tax protesters" who say the government has no legal right to collect. After joining Kahn's group, the government said Snipes instructed his employees to stop paying their own taxes and sought $11 million in 1996 and 1997 taxes he legally paid.

Prosecutors sought to justify the maximum sentence by raising those and other details from the IRS investigation, as well as a tax loss even for years in which Snipes was acquitted of failing to file a return. Such "relevant conduct" is allowed by law for a judge's consideration at sentencing.

Criminal tax prosecutions are relatively rare — usually the cases are handled in civil court, where the government has a lower burden of proof. Prosecutors said Snipes' case was important to send a message to would-be tax protesters not to test the government.

Treach (Naughty By Nature) Detained By Police In Newark, NJ

Naughty by Nature front man Treach was detained and questioned by police yesterday (April 22), after multiple shootings broke out throughout the city, in a violent 24-hour period.

According to local police, the rapper was stopped after police heard gunshots ring out in Newark, after two men shot and killed each other, and five others were wounded in separate incidences.

When police pulled the rapper’s Hummer over for driving erratically, they found the rapper wearing a bulletproof vest, but no weapons in the car, although police did recover a gun nearby.

Over the past 24 hours, two teens shot and killed each other during a gun battle, a man and a woman were shot in the face, a third man was shot in the leg, one man was shot when bullets pierced his front door, while another man was shot in the foot.

Additionally, a 27-year-old man was arrested for shooting a police sergeant, as well as two other shootings that the man committed within a five minute time frame.

EXCLUSIVE: Nas Drops Controversial Song "Be A Ni**er Too"; Calls Out All Races

Queensbridge rapper has just released a new song titled "Be A Ni**er Too," a track from his highly anticipated album, Ni**er.

The single "Be A Ni**er Too" is the first official release from Nas’ album, which has drawn intense scrutiny due to the album’s simple, yet controversial title.

The lyrics on "Be A Ni**er Too" gives listeners a glimpse into the direction Nas’ album may take.

On the track, which was produced by Salaam Remi and Big Jack, Nas makes his stance on the N-word clear through his lyrics and a slowed down delivery.

"The real Ni**ers are back on the radio," Nas says, before launching into his verse.

"Not mad cause Eminem said Ni**er/Cause he’s my Ni**er/Wigger/Cracker friend/We all black within/ We all African within/Some African’s don’t like us no way/A killin happened in Johannesburg yesterday.”

In a song that could be a lighting rod for controversy, Nas references the tragic murder of reggae star Lucky Dube in Johannesburg in October of 2007 and in the same line, name check’s the NAACP.

The hook for the song is a play on Dr. Pepper’s famous "Wouldn’t You Like to Be a Pepper Too" advertising slogan.

"I’m a Ni**er/He’s a Ni**er/she’s a Ni**er /we’s some Ni**ers/wouldn’t you like to be a Ni**er too," Nas raps.

On the rest of the chorus, Nas name check’s Jews (Kike Ni**ers), Hispanics (Spic Ni**ers), Italians (Guinea Ni**ers) and Asians (Chink Ni**ers), by using their respective racial epithets and embraces them as his Ni**ers.

“They like to strangle Ni**ers/blame a Ni**er/shoot a Ni**er/hang a Ni**er/still you wanna be a Ni**er too?/True.”

Nas' upcoming album Ni**er is due in stores this year on Island Def Jam, a unit of Universal Music Group.

After serving eight months of a one-year sentence for a probation violation, Foxy Brown was freed from Riker’s Island on Friday (April 18).

The 29-year-old rapper (real name: is Inga Marchand) greet friends, family, fans and the media outside the jail, where she hugged and snapped photos for nearly everyone.

Wearing a head scarf, sunglasses and a leather jacket, Foxy emerged from the jail, and enjoyed freedom, while making quick comments for cameras, for the first time since last year, before hopping into a white Rolls Royce and

heading home.

The rapper was sentenced to three years’ probation in October 2006 for assaulting employees of a New York nail salon in 2004. In September 2007, a judge ruled she was not taking probation seriously, due to numerous violations and other arrests, and sent her prison for one year.

Now free, Foxy is said to focus on her fourth studio album, Brooklyn’s Don Diva, which was pushed back, pending her release from prison.

She’s also rumored to begin filming a reality TV series. Her manager, Chazz Williams, said they have been in talks with several networks and studios to begin work on the project.

BEIJING—Known among schoolmates for his spirited antics and ability to make light of almost any situation, classroom jokester Wei Xiang, 11, was put to death by the Chinese government for drawing a mustache on an image of Education Minister Zhou Ji in one of his textbooks, sources reported Monday. "An enemy of the state has been dealt with accordingly," government spokesman Xu Qi said following Wei's execution by firing squad. "Let this be a lesson to other children considering wising off or otherwise wasting valuable class time." The fifth-grader previously served a six-month term in solitary confinement at Qincheng Prison after referring to the Tang Dynasty as "the Stank Dynasty" during a history lesson in 2007.
